Judit Reigl’s iconic painting is not merely a composition, but an energetic field activated through the mobilization of body and soul. Here, the painterly gesture is not illustrative, but an autonomous force emerging at the threshold of instinct, physicality, and spiritual concentration. The exhibition places this tension and dynamism at its center: how can gesture become a timeless form of expression, and in what ways can it continue to inspire contemporary artists? The participating artists do not quote Reigl’s gesture; rather, they expand upon it, reflecting on the relationship between center and periphery, as well as questions of force, energy, and transformation.

Within the exhibition’s diverse selection, different media and painterly languages converge around a shared conceptual axis.

Towards the Centre – Hommage à Reigl is not merely a tribute to Judit Reigl, but an exploration of how that painterly force — capable of addressing body and soul simultaneously — continues to resonate today.
