Patrícia Jagicza
Patrícia Jagicza is an artist whose practice is shaped by a personal tone that moves through self-reflection, intimacy and the search for identity. Her work centres on femininity, transformation and the shifting stages of life. Each piece carries quiet layers of meaning, informed by self-education, decisive moments and a willingness to experiment. She develops several bodies of work at once, moving between them fluidly rather than treating them as fixed chapters.
She trained as a painter, yet from 2020 she gradually turned toward ceramics, a medium that has since become central to her ideas. Her process is cyclical. Subjects return, transform and reassert themselves. She re-presents, analyses, dismantles and rebuilds them, sometimes shifting them into new media entirely.
In her ceramic work she reconnects with one of humanity’s oldest traditions, when objects carried both form and function. She treats these pieces as sculptures that still hold a practical presence. Her series LOST IDOL follows this instinct. The double-walled, multi-legged ritual vessels are conceived for the sanctuary of a fictional or forgotten fertility goddess, and the series continues to grow as a living organism. Alongside this, she creates unique works and modular elements that can be installed in different configurations. She also remains open to other materials whenever the idea requires it.
Patrícia works in Budapest at the Luno ceramics studio and is currently supported by a scholarship from the Hungarian Academy of Arts.
