Hullámtörés. Globális vízkrízis magyar fotográfusok szemével.
Breaking the waves.
Man and water. The delicate relationship between the two is life itself. And the lack of water is a daunting global crisis we are in the midst of. Six photographers András Zoltai, László Végh, Márton Kállai, Róbert László Bácsi, Zoltán Molnár and Zsolt Balázs, who trace water in various parts of the world, come together curated by Katalin Kopin with their photographs that have the last word on drought. The series represent the strong Hungarian photographic tradition, shaping the narrative of human stories and social themes, and reaching the viewer with deep and intense emotions. It goes beyond raising awareness and shocks.
In the series, where the transformation of nature is observed in every aspect; the need for water for plant cultivation, unsustainable mining, the drying up of natural resources, the unpredictable consequences of river regulation are emphasized. On the other hand, the story of man, who is left alone with nature after everything, is also included. The landscapes of human beings enjoying, harming, interfering with or resisting the gifts of nature take on a striking dimension with depictions approaching myths.
The exhibition was organized in the framework of the Hungarian—Turkish Cultural Year in collaboration with the Robert Capa Contemporary Photography Center (Budapest), the Liszt Institute — Hungarian Cultural Center Istanbul and 212 Photography Istanbul.
